한승민은 잠실창작스튜디오 9기 출신으로, 2025년부터 벗이미술관 소속 작가로 활동하고 있다.
자폐성 장애를 지닌 한승민에게 그림을 그린다는 것은 음악가가 흥겨운 곡을 작곡하듯 즐겁고 자연스러운 행위다. 중학교 시절부터 본격적으로 그림을 시작한 그는 일상의 경험과 인상 깊은 순간들을 작업의 모티브로 삼는다. 위트 있고 개성적인 캐릭터들, 그리고 선·면·색의 조화로운 구성은 그의 작품을 특징짓는 요소다.
한승민의 화면은 일정한 채도를 유지하면서도 다양한 색면과 선이 어우러져 색면 추상을 연상시킨다. 연필로 시작된 스케치는 마카와 붓펜을 거치며 여러 선과 면으로 확장되고, 세분화된 색면은 아크릴 물감으로 여러 차례 덧칠되며 조화를 찾아간다. 이 과정은 작가에게 오랜 시간과 높은 집중력을 요구하지만, 변화해가는 그 자체가 곧 그의 작업이자 표현이다.
그는 이러한 과정을 통해 창작의 즐거움을 느끼고, 작업 속에서 자신만의 의미와 진정한 마음의 평화를 발견한다.
Han Seungmin, a graduate of the 9th term of the Jamsil Creative Studio, has been an affiliated artist at the art museum VERSI since 2025.
For Han, who is on the autism spectrum, painting is an activity as natural and joyful as a musician composing a lively tune. Since beginning to paint in middle school, he has drawn inspiration from personal experiences and memorable moments in his daily life. His works are characterized by witty and distinctive characters, as well as by a harmonious interplay of lines, shapes, and colors.
Maintaining a consistent chromatic tone, his compositions blend various color fields and lines reminiscent of color field abstraction. Each piece begins with a pencil sketch that evolves through markers and brush pens into a network of lines and planes. These subdivided areas are then repeatedly layered with acrylic paint to achieve visual balance. This process demands time and intense focus, yet the act of transformation itself embodies the essence of his artistic practice.
Through this meditative and evolving process, Han Seungmin finds both the joy of creation and a sense of genuine inner peace.
